Many physicians are reluctant to treat patients with chronic pain if the treatment requires opiate use. Patients taking opiates require contracts, strict limits, and other considerations, placing the physician in the role of watchdog. Opiates are very addictive, but at times are indicated for chronic pain treatment. We provide management services for patients using or abusing opiates. Treatment options include prescribing and monitoring opiates for pain, suboxone maintenance for opiate addiction, and tapered detox for those who have no need for opiates, but who have become addicted through legitimate medication use or illegal opiate use.

The pattern is repeated over and over; a physician starts a patient on vicodin, then oxycodone, then duragesic... and eventually cuts the patient off, no longer 'comfortable' prescribing. The desperate patient goes doctor shopping, or makes the rounds to urgent care centers. Other patients make daily commutes to methadone centers. Patients with chronic pain often require opiates, and subox offers a number of advantages over other opiates.
