Dana Jane Saltzman, MD began her training in Internal Medicine at St. Vincents Hospital in 1994 after graduating with honors from New York Medical College. In her time there she worked with patients addicted to prescription medications, heroin and cocaine, and was intrigued with the challenges in treating drug dependency. In 1997, Dr. Saltzman joined the staff of St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital as an attending physician in their HIV/AIDS center. During this time, she also treated patients with substance abuse concerns. As her patients began to thrive on the new triple therapy she saw that much of the specialized care was no longer necessary. She saw that these people needed to focus on the basic health maintenance and lifestyle issues that face the non-HIV population. It was then that she decided to open her own preventive care practice in midtown Manhattan. In the 11 years since opening her own practice, Dr. Saltzman has been caring for patients suffering from oxycontin, heroin, vicodin and percocet addiction using Suboxone. Dr. Saltzman prides herself on getting to know her patients on a deeper level than simply their medical concerns, and works hard to treat not only their overt health problems, but also the underlying issues that cause them. Coming to work is a joy. I love what I do and look forward to seeing the patients Ive worked with for years as well as meeting new ones every day. Dr. Saltzman is affiliated with New York University Hospital. She is also an active member of American College of Physicians, Physicians for Social Responsibility, and Acupuncturists without Borders. She is currently working on starting a Military Stress Recovery Clinic for veterans here in midtown.
